The project
The project was made targeted for kids to have a nice and unforgettable day on Christmas. The projects main idea was for the kid to paint some drawings and then later see these drawings come to life in a virtual word.
Challenges
The project as many projects presented many projects presented many challenges.
The main challenges were how to correctly capture the kids drawings
Another one was how to implement them in the game and how to give the drawings animations
Finally the procedure had to be easy to use and should take a short time as none would like to wait a long time just to see his/ her drawing moving in a virtual world
Approaches
Getting the draw in the computer
Based on the project’s timeframe I used the most simply solution which was to use a printer to effectively and accurately insert the drawing in the computer. I used the printer’s program to set up things like default folder to save the drawing, name template and image quality. Although it worked out I still found it a bit outrageous how many apps and programms I had to use in combination just to operate a printer.
Except the programs that I had to use with the printer I overcome some challanges regarding the image size difference when printing or scanning as also I learned the difference in printing a png or pdf especially if you take into consideration the printer’s “Unprintable area”.
